Mid-Summer Special
was on Saturday 19th June 2010
6pm - 10.30pm
Did you miss it? It was an amazing night of live music, something for everyone.
You missed an evening festival of the best of folk music featuring...
THE JOYCE GANG
Sadly a family commitment has meant previously booked Colvin Quarmby will be unable to attend our evening but their shoes will be ably filled by The Joyce Gang.
Paul Downes, David McKeown and John Redmond make up this delightful Anglo-Irish roots band based in Southwest England. They play a variety of self-penned classics varying in style from traditional Irish/Celtic through folk rock to modern jazz. You'll find it hard to keep your feet still! There may only be three of them but they feature voice, guitars, bodhran, saxophone, clarinet, cello mandolin and keyboard!
Mary Jane
MARY JANE play a highly original blend of acoustic & electric psychedelic folk-rock.
The group consists of: Jo Quinn (vocals, flute, fiddle), Gillie Hotston (fiddle, mandolin, vocals), Paul Alan Taylor (guitar, bouzouki), Jon Hawkes (bass) & Steve Barker (drums). Final line up may vary from this.
Their music is a very individualistic & varied combination of self-penned & traditional material, with strong Celtic, Eastern & Medieval influences. Jo's stunning voice will delight you.http://www.mary-jane.info/Index1.html
Andy Stone
Andy has a real gift for songs and words, his own song "Tuppenny Jack" draws on an old fens name for Jack Frost and a character reappearing in one of Andy's other songs, about the people who make a living off the fens fighting against those that want to drain them. This song provided the name for his latest band, combining the best of folk and folk rock.
Barron Brady
A delightful duo performing their own traditional-style songs, with charm, verve and energy. Tales of legends and folklore from darkest Devon featuring mermaids, witches, were-foxes and the glories of the Devon landscape.
